Well, its fair to say that the event was a huge success both on and off the pitch, and I was absolutely gobsmacked this past week when I pulled together the figures for what was raised at the Charity Rugby League Event.
Months of planning went into the organisation of the day, and at times I felt like I had bitten off more than I could chew, but with the fantastic help from the people who volunteered, a team effort on the day, we made it through without any issues.
The Junior players, the amateur players and the Legends were all amazing and I can’t thank them enough for putting their hands up to play and entertain the fans.
Also a huge thanks to the support staff such as the physios, kit men, team managers, water carriers and masseurs who’s added input was vital to the success.
To the rugby league fans who bought tickets and turned up on the day to show their support to the event and help us raise funds for the Cathie Stankevitch Foundation, you are forever in my heart.
A big thank you also to the local business that provided us with sponsorship for the event and for the important things like the match kits and the trophies, which made the day feel extra special.
There are simply too many people to mention personally as I am sure that I would miss somebody out and I wouldn’t want to do that.
So finally, a HUGE thank you to everybody that played their part in the success, and I’d like to take this opportunity to Officially announce that we will DEFINITELY be doing it all again in 2017.
